RALEIGH—State lawmakers are getting ready to settle in and begin what is anticipated to be a very lengthy budget negotiation.
Before it starts, the House Finance Committee is digging into the expansive proposal they were sent by the Senate. There are a lot of questions, and a lot of concern.
“This is a major discussion, we are fundamentally transforming if you will, the economy of North Carolina,” said Rep. Jason Saine, a Lincoln County Republican.
The budget bill approved by the state Senate last week, not only includes a spending proposal for the state, but also tax reform, incentive proposals, and a Medicaid overhaul.
